A serene, starlit night scene at a beach. A group of African migrants in used urban street clothes are huddled together at the beach near the water.

All of the African migrants are raising up one arm with a Smartphone in their hands, facing the sea. One can see the glowing, blue screens of the collective smartphones in theirs hands, creating an eerie ambiance of longing and despair.

Everyone of the African migrants is holding their Smartphone up in hope of catching a network signal in order to talk to their loved ones far away. These young men took a lot of risks, often at their own peril, in search for a better life in Europe. The phones are their lifeline to family and friends.

Lost and fighting for survival in a foreign land, most often not particularly welcomed by some countries, waiting for asylum to be granted or not.

We see these young men on the beach in a majestic setting at night, but their life far from home is anything but glamorous.

The Smartphone is in effect a life saving communication tool to a dearly missed homeland, often riddled by war, unemployment, droughts, famines and corruption.
