A chaotic messy bedroom, heaps of wrinkled clothes, open books, and rumpled sheets scattered across the floor, also a drunk poet passed out on the bed, face down, moody chiaroscuro lighting with deep shadows, rich dark crimson and charcoal colour palette, thick impasto oil painting style with visible canvas texture and expressive brushstrokes, dramatic and melancholic atmosphere. Very tiny signature JKW
An oil on canvas painting depicts a young woman sleeping on a bed. Her head is nestled into her left arm, which rests on a white blanket on the bed. Her body is draped in a dark purple velvet robe that is gathered at her waist and hips, and falls over the edge of the bed. She is bare-footed, her heels dangling over the edge of the bed, towards the floor. Her body is hunched over, as she sleeps. A stack of pillows is placed at the head of the bed. The bed has a dark wooden frame. The floor is strewn with various books and papers, some open, some closed. The lighting is dim and soft, creating a somber and melancholic atmosphere. The initials JKw are written on the bottom right of the bed.
