An ornate Victorian-style lighthouse stands next to a small wooden house amidst a golden field under a dramatic sky at sunset. Actually this is one of a series of images of lighthouses in unlikely places, like the Grand Canyon and the South Dakota prairie. The observant viewer will note that this is near the shore of the sea, or perhaps one of the Great Lakes rather than the endless prairie, as people used to call it. The idea is not entirely silly as many people navigating the prairies of the western states could have used some occasional lights directing their travels.
