This dream is based on an original image taken in June 2011 at the Odesa (Ukraine) passenger terminal. The image depicts a memorial for seafaring personnel, showing a mother and a child waving at the departing husband/partner at sea.
Nowadays, one could interpret this memorial as a reminder of the ongoing war in Ukraine, representing anxious families, waiting for the safe return home of their loved ones.

Memorial of the Waves
At the quiet pier, a weathered stone stands,
Etched with the names of those who braved the vast blue
A testament to hearts that dared the endless sea.
A mother, her eyes soft with pride and pain,
And a child, small hand raised in a silent farewell,
Wave goodbye to a husband, a partner, a sailor
Embracing the horizon where hope meets the deep.
The salt of the ocean mingles with whispered memories,
As the vessel slips into the mist, a ghostly shadow
Carrying dreams, memories, and the promise of return.
The wind hums a lullaby of ages past,
And the waves murmur secrets of journeys untold
Each ripple a story of bravery, loss, and longing.
In today’s troubled tides, this memorial speaks anew;
Its silent vigil mirrors the anxious hearts of many,
Like families across lands marked by war’s relentless roar.
In the echo of Ukraine’s distant struggle,
The ocean becomes a bridge between past and present,
A shared sorrow and a beacon of steadfast hope,
Uniting those who wait for the safe return of their loved ones.
Beneath an ever-changing sky, the sea keeps its watch,
A timeless keeper of promises and parting glances.
In each departing wave, there lies a whispered prayer
That one day, all journeys end at the warm embrace of home,
And every farewell, no matter how bittersweet,
Finds its answer in the enduring light of love.
