More about African Mask Art

This is based on a quote from Pablo Picasso describing the original conception for his famous masterpiece Les Demoiselles d'Avignon:
“I would like to show the world today as an ant sees it and tomorrow as the moon sees it.”
Picasso was initially inspired by African masks when he painted Les Demoiselles d'Avignon. He was interested in the way that African masks distorted the human form, and he wanted to use this distortion to create a new and original vision of the female form.
