Layered composition with unexpected scale shifts, absurd narrative relationships, and deliberate visual dissonance. Rich textural detail from torn edges, pasted fragments, ink marks, weathered paper, and mixed-media assembly. Simultaneously chaotic and carefully balanced, evoking the spirit of Dada, anti-rational creativity, chance encounters, and subconscious symbolism. Cinematic tableau staging, strong focal hierarchy, intricate collage depth, evocative negative space, poetic absurdity, museum-quality mixed-media artwork, highly detailed, imaginative, thought-provoking.
A mixed media collage with a vintage aesthetic, featuring a dynamic composition of cut-out images, text, and graphic elements. The central focus is a large white banner with black text in German, reading "Mühl raus aus dem Kunstmarkt" (Muehl out of the art market), held by protesters in the lower middle. Behind the banner, the facade of a building with a sign that reads "WAM WIENER AKTIONISMUS MUSEUM" is visible.
Various elements are layered and juxtaposed:
In the upper left, a close-up of a person's eyes and forehead is partially covered by a newspaper clipping with a headline that says "KUNST AUF ABWEGEN" (Art Astray) and mentions "Otto Muehl – Wiener Aktionismus Künstler" (Otto Muehl – Vienna Actionism Artist).
Below the eyes, a stone bust of a man in a helmet with a metal contraption covering his mouth.
To the right of the bust, a partial image of a person’s legs in fishnet stockings and high heels, with a snail at the bottom of the foot.
The occasion: A scheduled exhibition of the controversial artist Otto Muehl aka Mühl to open September 2026 at the WAM Museum in Vienna. It is subject of massive protests by the 'Mathilda' Group, founding members of former victims of the commune led by Otto Muehl.
