American Gothic Horror Story: Vines that Bind is stylish horror reimagining that features an elegant Black couple, intertwined blooming plants in front of a vine-covered Creole home. The scene blends beauty and decay, evoking Southern Gothic themes, voodoo, and identity.
Using renowned American Gothic as its initial template. Its inspiration is Dream Rhapsody’s work: https://deepdreamgenerator.com/ddream/cowgfzx7s2p.
The art and spirit are influenced by Ryan Murphy’s ‘American Horror Story’ and Jordan Peele’s ‘Get Out.’ The couple, at first glance, seems to have it all, but a closer look reveals they are bound to this place - the land, the house – even the land’s vegetation is used as a decorative restraint. A dark supernatural presence resides in the house. Its darkness is represented by emanating bright light. It surrounds the couple in what could be confused for a loving glow, but it’s vaporous, with a magnetic pull. Akin, perhaps, to bright headlights that reflect off water particles in fog only further impair sight and mobility. Light can be a tool used to hinder illumination.
The man and woman both have facial expressions that, from a distance, don’t seem noteworthy; however, they exude tensions that reflect varied underlying emotions; even a blankness - which indicates disconnection as a coping mechanism.
