Out of suffering have emerged

are seared with scars.
Without suffering,
the rudest and roughest exteriors
would have developed in our bodies.
Without suffering, we would have been
unable without knowing it to give of ourselves.
We would have starved to death through
having no one to feed us.
We would not have known how to share
with others from what little we had.
Without suffering, we would never know
how much blood is inside our bodies?
Without suffering, we wouldn’t be able
to see the beauty of life because
there was no death for us to witness.
Without that little bit of death in us,
we wouldn’t be able to create new life
and bring forth new beginnings.
