'The Pelican in her Piety'. It refers to the medieval fable of the pelican drawing blood from its own breast to feed its young. This image is used to symbolize Christ sacrificing himself on the cross to redeem the world's sins.
What does the gift of piety mean?
Piety, the sixth gift of the Holy Spirit, is the perfection of the virtue of religion. While we tend to think of religion today as the external elements of our faith, it really means the willingness to worship and to serve God.
How do you practice the gift of piety?
Even though piety is a gift of the Holy Spirit, we have to practice it every single day by making time for prayer. Mother Teresa once said, “If you face God in prayer and silence, God will speak to you. Listen in silence because if your heart is full of other things you cannot hear the voice of God.
