More about Portrait (1)

An abstract, Cubist-style portrait of a human face is constructed from layered pieces of cardboard and colored paper. The artwork is set against a solid turquoise background. The face features prominent, angular shapes, with a large, triangular nose dividing the face. The left eye, depicted in profile, is almond-shaped and outlined in black and teal, with a black circular pupil. The right eye is also almond-shaped, with pink, green, and cream-colored layers, and a black pupil. The lips are styled geometrically, with the left side in dark teal and the right in a dusty pink. The hair is a complex arrangement of overlapping, curved, and jagged shapes in shades of pink, purple, dark gray, and cardboard brown, with cut-out holes revealing dark shadows and layers underneath. The overall composition uses geometric abstraction to create a multi-dimensional effect, with various cardboard and paper textures visible, including the corrugated edges of the cardboard.
