** The Redemption in the Wait **
They came in great numbers
As a census had been declared.
Many lacked a wall, a roof,
The cold, they simply bared.
Of course, few were filled with joy,
Some suffered on their way.
Yet amidst the mass of weary souls,
a child was born, and hearts grew light that day.
The boy’s first cry rang sharp and clear,
It rose like angels’ song.
The gathered voices joined in his call,
The sky trembled, too lovely to belong.
Through the streets, the news spread fast,
A story of redemption in their wait.
From mouth to eager ear it went,
As birth was met with bliss, so great.
And now, we hold a vision close,
Of white, romantic Christmas cheer,
But wherever summer reigns,
Even this dream won’t come near.
