Before we see more about Krampus's personal life at home, let's look behind the curtain at preparations for Krampusnacht, (tomorrow night!). I imagine that huge list of names going into those two columns: the good children on the left and the bad children on the right, being divided as they study the scroll. At the end, there there will be one single list for each of them to carry away and study for tomorrow night.
[With all the dreadful uncertainty in the world right now, I wanted to make something playful. I hope this story line provides a little bit of good humor.]
Krampus is recognized in several countries such as Austria, Slovenia, Germany, the Czech Republic, and Hungary. The celebration is also gaining recognition in the United States and other parts of Europe. Krampus celebrations have led to a comic book series and even the production of movies.
This modern-day resurgence in interest in Krampus is partly attributed to the fascination with folklore, as well as the desire to embrace unique cultural traditions. But the allure of Krampus lies in its ability to provide an alternative narrative to the saccharine sweetness often associated with the holiday season.
