This ship, THE WAYWARD, has sailed the seas of an alternate-reality Earth for over 300 years. In various forms, ships and other conveyances like this one have been known for thousands of years.

The ship's "sails" are actually energy collectors, and the emitter-weapon at its prow is able to a wide variety of weapon effects, from laser beams to sonic destruction. The ship also uses gravitic redirection for propulsion and even for flight.

All of these ships are constructed by The All-Knowing (TAK), an alien who has been studying this alt-Earth and its lifeforms for hundreds of thousands of years, using cyborg bodies of humans and animals as remote drones, all controlled from TAK's stronghold in one of the Pacific Trenches.

TAK brought his alien family with him, and his spouses have given him many fine children. While living as a human he has also fallen in love with human women, and used cyborg bodies to impregnate them, most often with some degree of augmented genetics and other enhancements, gifting those most capable with technology like this ship, and he has even gifted the most worthy with immortality. Many of TAK's alien family have likewise lived as humans, and some of these have also created family lines.

The Wayward was originally commanded by one of TAK's alien children, and it was later gifted to one of that progeny's own alien children. When this progeny's enthusiasm for living among humans waned, he gifted The Wayward to a human son who was heavily augmented both genetically and technologically.

To sum it all up, ships and other technology are used by aliens in human form and selected humans for a wide variety of reasons - some of those using these resources will work at cross-purposes to one another.
