The incoming President of the United States gave a blanket pardon to all the convicted January 6th insurgents who stormed the Capitol, vandalized, and called for increasing violence against legislators and the Vice President. The pardon included even the ones convicted of assault on law enforcement. And the first thing one released convict said was, "I'm going to buy some guns!"
Right now we are waiting to see if our administrative branch of government will comply with our judicial branch. It is frightening, and I can't help but wonder if we will ever return to holding people accountable. Only time will tell if our judiciary can hold us together as the executive and the legislative work together to dismantle our institutions of governing.
