In Buddhist mythology, Vajrapani -- literally 'Diamond in the Hand' -- was the embodiment of the energy of the Buddha, though also a Buddhist saint of high spiritual attainment in his own right. Traditional depictions of him in Tibetan art always portrayed him as a short, fat dwarf. Well, I decided I'd like to see him as a tall, athletic superhero instead, though still with the elements of traditional Buddhist iconography preserved. This image is a digital development of a hand-drawn picture I did of him. Might do a superhero comic book series with him as my hero!

The scepter in Vajrapani's right hand is called a Vajra (or 'Dorje' in Tibetan). It is supposed to be a thunderbolt, made of diamond, which cuts through all obstacles to enlightenment. Thanos would have nothing against him!
