Created due to a language barrier, his name has become iconic in the gaming world.

Arguably the worst-named character in gaming history (a fiercely contested category, admittedly), Mr. Kong was reportedly called "Donkey" because his Japanese creator and game-inventing legend, Shigeru Miyamoto, thought "Donkey" meant in English stubborn or stupid. and 'Kong' was Japanese slang for Gorilla. Hey, now you know. Now somewhat overshadowed by his dungarees-loving owner, Kong lives on through his catalog of 20 strong backs as well as appearances in the Smash Bros and Mario Kart series.
