(part of the) Prompt is a scene from the book Nirwana written by Tommy Wieringa:
He looked into all the rooms and sank into meditation posture on the mat in the attic.
The grays in the space deepened; instability, as if everything was breaking apart into loose pixels. Gray possessed that power, you could disintegrate and dissolve into it.
Daniel Libeskind had recognized that special property of gray; at the Jewish Museum in Berlin, he had placed concrete walls that slowly grew toward each other.
You could walk into that sinister space and undergo its mysterious effect.
The horror of sustaining life with a sensory shock, that was where Libeskind's genius lay. The tall, straight walls narrowed as you moved further toward the tip of the triangle where the gray deepened, almost black, until you could go no further and all color disappeared. Suspicions of unspeakable horrors. The work itself evoked a sense of self-loss, as if you were being erased in pencil-gray stripes.
