Okay, this wasn't at all what I wanted. I thought along the lines of "Cthulhu in the style of early DC comics". Since the 30s and 40s in comic book history are called the "Golden Age", I used that moniker. Didn't work out.

Looks more like a late game item in a dark fantasy RPG.
