The formicula is a bizarre insectoid creature that appears to be a cross between an ant and a spider. Its body is covered in shiny, iridescent chitin that reflects the light in dazzling colors. The creature is about the size of a small bird, with a wingspan of around two feet.
The most striking feature of the formicula is its legs. It has eight spindly legs that are so thin they appear almost translucent. Each leg is covered in tiny hairs that help the creature to grip onto surfaces and climb with ease. The legs are also segmented, allowing the formicula to fold them up and tuck them away when not in use.
The formicula's head is dominated by a pair of huge, multifaceted eyes that give it an almost insectile appearance. The eyes are positioned on either side of the head and provide the creature with exceptional vision in all directions.
