Memory Lane is a Dead End

I read a book last week but now
I can't remember the plot...
The characters, or the story line,
or who got stabbed or shot.

The author's name escapes me now
But I think the cover was blue.
And if I could remember where I put it,
I’d happily lend it to you.

Watched a movie on TV last night
I give it a five-star review
With that actress, what's her name
And that guy from Doctor Who.

I don't remember the title
Or how they decided to end it,
But if you have time to watch,
I highly recommend it.

But now (this morning at 3AM)
I'll remember all the names
And every word of every scene
And the scores of all the games.

I don't know why I can't recall
The details when I ought to.
I meant to write a poem about that,
But dammit! I forgot to!
