God spoke to Abram, a promise anew,
A covenant made, so faithful and true,
He changed Abram's name, to Abraham,
Father of many, a blessed plan.
God promised him, descendants galore,
A multitude of nations, to explore,
He made a covenant, everlasting,
For generations to come, so everlasting.
Abraham fell on his face, in awe,
Of God's faithfulness, without a flaw,
He laughed with joy, at the promise so grand,
For Sarah, his wife, was part of the plan.
God also changed her name, you see,
From Sarai to Sarah, divinely decree,
She would bear a son, despite her age,
God's power and grace, would turn the page.
Abraham circumcised, as a sign,
Of God's covenant, so divine,
For all his household, and every male,
A token of faith, that would prevail.
In Genesis, this chapter shines,
With God's promise, so pure and divine,
A covenant made, with Abraham's line,
A testament of God's love, so fine.
So let us marvel, at God's grace,
In Genesis 17, we embrace,
His faithfulness, through all of time,
A covenant that's eternally sublime.
