Shakespeare: In his play Hamlet, Ophelia is seemingly the embodiment of feminine perfection, and in her character Shakespeare depicts the danger of beauty through the torture of sincere love. Her love for Hamlet is the purest Platonic love, which at the same time over-dimensions the object of her love, projecting an exalted image of Hamlet before us.
A romantic style impasto oil painting depicting the following scene: Ophelia, the beautiful woman, stands smiling under a flood of light, wearing a floor-length, snow-white silk dress, leaning back slightly, both hands clasped at her sides, palms up, flower petals showering her from above. The background of the painting is dominated by silver-gray color and the silhouette of an ancient Greek temple is visible.
