Did you know that Palestinians in the West Bank are prohibited from collecting rainwater?
Since the Israeli military issued Military Order No. 158 in November 1967, Palestinians have been required to obtain a permit from the Israeli military authorities before constructing any new water installations, including rainwater cisterns. These permits are rarely granted, rendering such constructions effectively illegal. Violations of this order can result in severe penalties, including fines and imprisonment. Additionally, the Israeli military has destroyed existing rainwater harvesting cisterns, further exacerbating the water scarcity faced by Palestinian communities
