A complex and dramatic digital artwork depicting several images of a man resembling a musician, exploring themes such as struggle, reflection and journey. In the dominant foreground, a middle-aged man with a beard and long hair, dressed in a black leather jacket and jeans, is dramatically depicted as he plunges into a huge, dark abyss or hole in a barren, desert-like landscape. He stretches his arm forward, holding an almost empty whisky glass, whilst a cowboy hat hovers above him. Various objects are plummeting into the abyss alongside him, including bottles of alcohol, playing cards, banknotes and an hourglass.
On the left, a composite scene depicts earlier stages of the man’s life. At the very top, he is seen in intimate companionship with two different, attractive women amidst a vibrant urban nightlife scene with glowing bar signs, symbolising past excesses or relationships. Below this is another depiction of the man from the chest upwards, thoughtfully holding a drink and apparently gazing at a table laden with gambling paraphernalia. Further down and closer to the foreground is a third depiction of the man, who appears worried and aged, leaning over a wooden table covered with playing cards and cash; next to him stand a bottle of whisky and a drink, suggesting despair or misfortune.Time has passed; he has lost his footing and is now in free fall towards the abyss. There were times when he dominated, when he was at his best, but something must have overcome him along the years...
