A beautiful, almost lifelike painted forest landscape in the highlands, featuring enchanting paths emerging from the light and leading into it, criss-crossed by a stream that is still partially frozen, fed by meltwater from the higher regions. Moss-covered rocks and trees enchant the scene, some still covered in snow and ice, others with icicles hanging from the branches and roots. The sun shines brightly on the lighter areas of the forest, bathing the remaining snow in a warm glow, whilst rays of sunlight pierce powerfully through the trees. The paths consist partly of stone steps and scree. The scene conveys a peaceful and mystical atmosphere.
