Weaving Different Webs
(Some for need; some for greed.)


Oh what a tangled web I weave,
but I must- to eat, a necessary deed,
an assemblage of my deceit,
it’s in my nature, survival, my need.

But your world chooses to deceive
because it can, or so it believes,
binge on greed’s unending feed,
a hunger that’s never hunger -
just wanting more, endlessly.

I spin a beauty made of silk,
a required predatory balance;
my toil preserves our mother earth,
my labor births what’s left of worth.

You spin your tales, your schemes of fraud,
say it’s blessed by some mighty god -
while you pillage the very creation
you pretend to defend,
drinking it dry like mother’s milk.

Just a spider, no Wall Street cred,
the webs I build are stunning instead -
their beauty lives, holds & sustains.
Yours devours.
And that, you say,
is what makes your nations great.
