ArtistA small grumpy goblin inventor named Grimbold and his rusty wingless mechanical dragon discover the Heart of the Last Steam Engine inside a vast abandoned industrial complex. The dragon is a wingless reptilian clockwork mount built from rusted iron, gears, rivets and pipes, absolutely no wings. In the center of a gigantic circular chamber floats an enormous brass-and-crystal mechanical heart larger than a house. Glowing energy veins pulse weakly through its surface while countless pipes and gears connect it to ancient machinery. Steam drifts through shafts of golden light as warning lamps begin to flicker. The atmosphere is mysterious, emotional and awe-inspiring, with immense steampunk engineering and cinematic scale. Style of Brian Froud × Ian McQue × Tony DiTerlizzi, 4:3 composition. Include a very small sterilized full-body white unicorn logo with delicate proportions and the text “AI by Unicorngraphics” beneath it in the bottom right corner.
As the sun rose over the City of Awakened Automatons, Grimbold and his dragon Rusttooth were already standing at the northern gate. Hundreds of mechanical beings gathered behind them. Many had awakened only hours before. Some looked hopefully toward their king; others gazed after the small goblin as if the fate of their entire world depended on him. The king, made of rusty silver, stepped before the crowd and handed Grimbold a small metal capsule. It was crafted from the same silvery metal as his own armor. Strange symbols spiraled across its surface. "This is a memory cylinder," the king explained. "It contains the final records of our seekers. Perhaps it will help you." Grimbold fastened the capsule to his belt. Then, he mounted his dragon. Together, they followed the glowing line on the map. The trail led them out of known lands and into regions not marked on any modern map. For days, they traveled across desolate plains of rusty metal. They crossed dried-up canals where steamships had once sailed and passed through ruined workshops with long-collapsed roofs. Everywhere, they found traces of past greatness. Yet, the further north they ventured, the stranger the landscape became. One morning, they reached a plain filled with colossal metal pillars. Each towered hundreds of meters into the sky. Countless pipes connected them; some appeared to be still operational. A slow, rhythmic thumping echoed from deep within them. Grimbold listened. "Do you hear that?" The Rusttooth nodded. The sound resembled a heartbeat. Slowly, they rode on. Toward evening, they discovered the source. Before them rose a massive structure of steel and brass. Enormous smokestacks towered into the sky. Gears the size of houses turned slowly. Steam billowed from hundreds of valves. Though the facility was ancient, it was still operational. Above the main gate, a faded inscription read: Central Energy Chamber VII. Grimbold sensed immediately that this place was significant; the rhythmic thumping was much louder here. Together, they entered the complex. Inside, they found vast halls stretching for kilometers, filled with machinery. Conveyor belts stood idle. Cranes hung motionless from the ceilings. Yet, deep beneath it all, that steady beating continued to resound. Hour after hour, they followed the sound. Finally, they reached a colossal circular chamber. Grimbold stopped, speechless. Suspended in the center was a massive sphere of brass and crystal. Countless pipes led into its interior. Veins of faint light pulsed across its surface. The sphere was larger than a house—and it beat like a heart. Slow. Heavy. Weary. Thump. Thump. Thump. The sound filled the entire hall. "It can't be..." Grimbold whispered.
