ArtistA large, Roman-style indoor smithy. There is a large hearth against the back wall, but no other furniture or tools. The hearth is dirty with piles of old ashes in it. Strange runes are carved into the stonework all around the hearth. Athena, an anthropomorphic elderly tabby cat in red robes and a red cloak, carries a rapier in a sheath attached to her belt. Athena crouches on all fours, she is seen from behind kneeling in front of the hearth and holding a piece of parchment in her paw. Her paws are dirty and her cloak has sooty patches on it. The parchment is half-burnt and has a blood-red pentagram in the bottom left-hand corner.
Finally Athena manages to brush the last of the ashes off the parchment and retrieve it from the hearth. She discovers a strange symbol on it, a pentagram. She is confused. She has never come across this symbol before, even though she has traveled far and wide in the world. She recalls her education at the Feline Academy of Investigations, where she graduated top of her class thanks to her unparalleled memory for details, her keen eye for spotting clues, her methodical approach to complex problems and her exceptional instinct for asking the right questions. She took every optional class on offer, including one on heraldic symbols, where they had to learn and memorize hundreds of coats of arms and other symbols from around the world. After carefully sifting through her extensive knowledge of emblems, badges, ideograms and more, she concludes that she has probably never come across the five-pointed star anywhere. What could it mean? Where could it be from? Who uses it and what do they use it for? These are all questions to which she, as of yet, as no answers. Perhaps the public library of Antonesia will help her?
