In an overgrown graveyard, bathed in moonlight, a dog sits mournfully by a gravestone. The illuminating rays reveal the dog wearing an extraordinarily stunning sugar skull – its transcendent beauty befitting Día de los Muertos. The mask is crafted with the verve of a master artist painting a visionary inspiration on a canvas that is itself the beloved muse & every brushstroke is expressing a love story.
As if homage, the dog’s facial structure & depth of sorrow are integrated into the art. Diego, the dog, gazes upward at the stars, body slumped in grief, as if searching. His brown eyes glisten with heightened tearful sadness. Scattered about the grave are roses, dog bones, a squeaky toy and a dog collar, its metal tag casting an eerie glow conveying a distinct absence. The gravestone’s surface is marred by visible claw marks & scratches etched with a depth of persistent regularity & desperation, perhaps with great effort to touch the engraved name, Frida.
A dog day of remembrance, Diego honors his mate Frida, their real puppy love and days as "Fridiego"
