More about A sleepy walk in the moonlight

As can be scientifically proven, the moon has nothing to do with sleepwalking! Up to 30 per cent of children are affected. In around 80 per cent of cases, the tendency disappears by puberty. 2%-3% of adults are affected. Somnambulism only occurs in deep sleep phases, not in the dream phases (REM sleep). There are cases where sleepwalkers leave the bed, walk around, open cupboards or doors, leave the room and sometimes even the house; they can even carry out complex activities such as driving a car. Sleepwalkers are therefore at risk of accidents. Sleepwalkers should not be woken up, but only gently guided back to bed.
