Unfortunately, there are far too few psychiatrists and psychotherapists in Germany, and unfortunately there are also far too few places in psychiatric clinics and other institutions. The waiting times are often several months, six to nine months is no longer uncommon, and in some particularly tragic cases the problem has unfortunately resolved itself by then. That is why quick and good help is so important. Furthermore, mental illnesses are still demonized in large parts of society and those affected are wrongly stigmatized; this must not be allowed to happen either! Not everyone who has been in a psychiatric hospital is automatically a dangerous, mentally ill mass murderer, but most likely just a poor soul with depression or anxiety disorders, so don't approach them with prejudice!
