A faint mist clings to the fens, rising from the damp earth in ghostly tendrils. The ground is soft and spongy, a patchwork of wet grasses and shallow pools, the water reflecting the grey sky above. The air is heavy with moisture, the scent of peat and decaying vegetation thick in your lungs. The horizon is barely visible through the mist, and the only sounds are the distant croak of frogs and the occasional rustle of reeds. The fens feel hidden, secretive, as if they hold memories long forgotten beneath the murky waters. The stillness is unnerving, the silence broken only by the faintest sound of the land shifting under the weight of time.
