Daniel Quinn remains one of my cherished favorite authors. 19 yrs old, doubting my position in the world , lost , wanting to do everything but not sure about any direction...
Well, he may have complicated my path , my ostracized nature got worse but I could not regret anything from the influence of his books. From "Ishmael" , "The story of B", "Providence" ( his autobiography) all the way to Beyond Civilization.
The nature and source code of everything is means tk be human and the evolution of our psychology and sedentary stepping stones can be summed up in a scientific enumeration : anthropocentrism.
Desmond Morris gave us " The Naked Ape" which is fascinating; a zoologists' perspective of the human species. However Daniel Quinn took a lifetime to finally make a work of fiction called Ishmael, because no one would publish his previous works of thousands of pages. So beautifully written and fresh I have 'prescribed' " Ishmael" to everybody thats has always loved life and were willing to ask great questions.
Beyond Civilization ended up being all his works and ideas , shrunk down into one topic per page. Brilliant. There are so many worlds out there we have never lived. The amalgam of decisions, winks, wars and whys have paved the way to here now and what-ifs.
