Rappaccini's Daughter is a short story by Nathaniel Hawthorne about a young woman who has grown up in 16rh century Padua, Italy, tending her father's poisonous garden, and as a consequence, has become as dangerous as the flowers she tends. She is an innocent young woman and wishes to love and be loved in return, but she does realize that she is a possible danger to her lover as well.
