All different, they are all family
It is evident that families have changed although, perhaps, social acceptance has not accompanied them at the same pace. There are many studies that highlight that these families encounter rejection from the society in which they live, given that the population tends to remain stagnant in their values and beliefs.
When a social change occurs, the general lack of knowledge of the population has the characteristic of predicting terrible consequences to the novelty: “how are you going to be a mother on your own, you can't”, “the children of gays will be gay for sure”, “ Your ex's boyfriend will manipulate your son”, “but if you don't have children, how are you going to be a family!”
Prejudices and stereotypes generate discomfort, both in those who give it and in those who receive it. Normalizing new ways of being a family is essential for both adults and children. Finally, a climate of hostility can cause psychological problems in members of “non-traditional” families.
