When the demons laid waste to Yragael's homeworld and abducted his beloved, the enraged Prince of Men gave chase, arriving at length at the accursed living citadel of Spharain, a monstrous cyclopean structure devoid of doors or windows. The only way to enter was to breach its walls with a magical weapon of sufficient power, but upon entering the walls would miraculously restore themselves and one would be trapped forever in the mad labyrinth within unless one could reach its heart -- where Yragael's beloved was now imprisoned. Seven heroes were said to have entered this place over the centuries; none had ever returned...
