The most known polish legend about a dragon is the one about the Wawel Dragon. He lived beneath the Wawel castle and ate men and cattle alike. His defeat was attributed in the oldest known version to a pair of king's sons, in later ones to a cobbler named Skub. Regardless of who conquered the dragon, it was never done with steel and bluntness, but cunning and ruse.
