This picture is hopefully worth a thousand words, or one short story / novella.
This is a fanciful portrait of a boy who was captured by irate villagers when his ghul pack was ravaging a local cemetery. A British physician paid the villagers off so that he could take possession of the boy and study him. Having an artistic bent, the physician made numerous portraits of the boy, from straightforward medical illustrations to portraits like this one ; according to his diaries, he made this portrait in an attempt to humanize the boy, to show his childlike enthusiasm and naivete. When the physician was found half-devoured in his home, the local police worked out that the boy's pack had retrieved him.
