Valhalla is a Norse mythological concept of a grand hall located in Asgard, the realm of the gods. It is where the souls of warriors who have died in battle are taken to feast and fight alongside the gods in preparation for Ragnarok, the final battle between the gods and giants. The hall is ruled by Odin, the chief of the gods, and is said to contain 540 doors, through which 800 warriors can march out at a time. The warriors are known as Einherjar, and they are chosen by the Valkyries, female figures who decide who will die in battle and who will live. Valhalla is often depicted as a place of great honor and glory for warriors.
