A religious painting in a Renaissance style features the Virgin Mary seated on a large wooden throne, with baby Jesus sitting on her lap. Mary wears a long, deep blue robe that drapes over her knees and lower body, revealing the ornate gold embroidery along the bottom edge. A pale veil covers her head and falls down her back, and she has a calm, gentle expression. Baby Jesus, with curly blond hair and wearing a light-colored, patterned tunic, sits upright on her lap, looking forward while holding a small object. To the left, a man and a woman stand looking toward the throne, the man wearing a reddish-brown robe with gold trim and the woman holding a small gold cup. Note: This is not in any obvious way a religious painting, it is simply a formal study based on an old painting by daMassina and a fractal image of what looks rather like air conditioning ducts. I made the fractal image from Mandelbulb3D. The two images combine nicely on strictly formal grounds. I used the same fractal image in my tinkering with the delSarto picture of the Madonna of the harpies, as that painting is known. The female figure is, of course, derived from the painting of the Queen of Heaven but it actually happens to look just a bit like my grand daughter. Perhaps I will post another one or two versions of these images to clarify the matter.
