Now she exists between reflection and depth, visible only when the water is disturbed. Boats passing overhead sometimes feel a sudden drag, as if caught in unseen weeds. Those who look down may see her face just beneath the surface, staring upward with unnatural calm. If eye contact is made, the water grows heavy, almost thick, pulling downward with quiet insistence. Survivors claim they heard no splash when others were taken — only silence. It is said the Bride does not seek revenge, but completion. She searches endlessly for someone to take the place of the one who never arrived.
