TROLL TRICK, poem by B.J. Lee
With many a scowl and many a frown
a troll pushed stones and boulders down.
The crashing sound made town folks wonder,
Is it a troll or is it thunder?
But hill folk knew
When boulders roll,
It's always the trick
of a terrible troll!

MUSHROOMS AND TROLLS
WHAT’S THE CONNECTION?

THIS REMINDS ME
again, that…
FUNGI EAT ROCKS
They
produce spores
that
release acid.
This ACID
breaks up
the
rock surface.
Then,
fast growing
fungal
filaments
called
hyphae
drill
into the rock
using Pressure
100 times greater
than the
pressure
inside a car tire
which is approximately
3500 pounds.
The tips of the hyphae
explode through the rock
in a kind of molecular
mining
operation,
for the purpose
of
extracting
a meal
of minerals.
Mycelia
also
exudes enzymes
and
acids
that can
transform rock
into
biologically
accessible minerals.
It is
THIS PROCESS
that OPENS the DOOR
for NEW LIFE
as
they are
KEY
to the
creation of soil.
