WEE HOBGOBLIN
One wee little Hobgoblin
All dressed up in red,
Was spying on a farmhouse
With mischief in his head.
"This place,"
said the little Hobgoblin,
"It could be lots of fun.
Everything's so clean and tidy,
And begging to be undone."
So the wee little Hobgoblin
He went to work with glee,
He let the cattle out the gate
And set the piglets free.
He spilled some milk in the kitchen,
And overturned the butter churn.
He yanked the laundry off the line
And caused the soup to burn.
He pinched the baby
and scared the cat
And had what he thought
was the mostest fun.
And when his spree was over
He said, "That's a job well done!"
HOBGOBLINS AND MUSHROOMS
WHAT’S THE CONNECTION?
WELL,
WHEN THE POEM MENTIONS…
A little hobgoblin
full of mischief, it brings to mind that…
What we know
about fungi
is still in
its infancy.
Some
may FEED us,
Some
may POISON us
some
may SAVE us,
some
may KILL us.
We are only
JUST
beginning
to
KNOW
WHO
are FRIEND
and
WHO
are FOE.
WHEN THE POEM MENTIONS…
Everything‘s so neat and tidy,
BEGGING TO BE UNDONE…
THIS REMINDS ME…
fungi
are the
earth’s
great decomposers.
They can
unravel
long-chain molecules
of
organic matter
even TOXIC matter
into a digestible form.
In addition
fungal mycelia
HOLD soil together,
help RETAIN water
and make its
nutrients available
to vegetation.
Meanwhile, just so you know, all of the fairy poems
shared were gathered (some written by me) a few years prior
to discovering Paul Stamets and his mushroom work. At the time
I was trying to connect, especially children, to nature with
a bit of fun by incorporating fairies, along with nature activities.
Then, when I discovered Paul Stamets and his work with mushrooms,
I thought in a way, I had discovered a holy grail to many of our environmental
problems, which has always been a core interest of mine.
This influence from Paul Stamets began around 2010 to the present.
However, because of one interview which I thought was not
in his usual style of being straight upfront, in fact, appeared to be
over-acting, I began to question the ground upon which he stood.
The following link I think gives a fair assessment and balance to all
in his regard, so perhaps, in the end, we may not throw out the baby
with the bathwater.
