ArtistFull-screen, front-lit, macro-view watercolor of a large, ripe pomegranate, broken apart to show the dozens of juicy, red seeds lodged inside the white pulp. The skin of the pomegranate is thick, leathery, red and dull. The pomegranate pieces lie on a flower-patterend fine bone china plate, which lies atop a wooden serving tray along with an ornate heirloom silver spoon. The culinary still life is lit from the front and casts high shadows on the splotchy, sumptuously flower-patterned wallpaper behind it. The wall is rendered in blurry, wet-on-wet speedpainted watercolor. The pomegranate, bone china plate and wooden serving tray are deftly and painstakingly rendered in diaphanous watercolor with exquisite detail, with the aquarelle painted all the way to the edges of the heavy, handmade rag paper. Prize-winning, museum quality biology aquarelle illustration in the style of Simonetta Occhipinti Pierre-Joseph Redouté, Jakob Demus, Hildegard Könighofer and Margareta Pertl as well as Siobhan Larkin.
A still-life image of a ripe, sliced pomegranate with seeds scattered on a plate, next to an ornate spoon, against a floral backdrop.
