More about S.S Mercator

The Cardboard model ship "S.S Mercator" had a lenght of 3 meters and was 1.50 meters tall, it was built by a small group of residents from the shores of Lake Auriga between the years of 1999 and 2002. It was launched without any ceremony and had a successful maiden voyage, sailing from the port of Cardbordonia to Cardboria city in about 2 hours.
The ship was well known in the cardboard shipping community of Lake Auriga due to the havy and durable cardboard used to build its hull and its strong propulsion system, which made it possible for it to complete a trip that would usually take 3 hours in 1.30 hours. It was also known for its incredible passenger capacity, which was 1000 lego minifigures, a record-breaking number for the time of its launching.
The ship had a very uneventful career, as the route it was assigned to was not very long, but in november 5th, 2004, the ship encountered another vessel in the exact same route, but in diferent directions, the two boats almost colided but thankfully they were able to move out of each other's way.
After a long and successful career, the ship began to show the signs of its age, and in november of 2007, the ship was taken out of service and sent to the Cardbordonia port scrapyard, were it was scrapped.
There are a few items such as the ship's funnel and some furniture that were saved and put on display on the Cardbordonian maritime history museum, n the city of Aurora, where they are till this day.
