Jacob, fearful, on his way
To meet his brother, come what may
A past of deceit, a heart weighed down
A man at odds with his own renown
He sent ahead his gifts of peace
To Esau, hoping for release
But fear still gripped him like a vice
As he prepared for his brother's eyes
Alone he stayed, that fateful night
When God Himself appeared in sight
A wrestling match, a bout so dire
Jacob fought with all his desire
Through the night, they grappled on
Jacob, stubborn, he held on
With sinew strained, with every breath
He wrestled with the Lord, to his own death
As daybreak neared, the struggle real
God touched Jacob's hip, with holy zeal
A reminder of man's humble frame
His reliance on the Lord, a sacred claim
Jacob, weakened, could fight no more
He clung to God, his heart now pure
"Please bless me," Jacob humbly cried
A new name, a new dawn, he would ride
"Israel," God said, with grace and might
A name that marked a divine sight
For Jacob now, a new birth found
A transformed man, his feet on holy ground
With Esau coming, Jacob feared
But God had softened hearts, he soon revered
Reconciliation, a gift so grand
A reunion embraced, on sacred land
Genesis 32, a tale of might
Of wrestling with God, in the dark of night
A story of transformation, of fear and grace
A man forever changed, in God's embrace.
