ArtistA darkness is coming it wears a red hat, a balsa wood cross, wrapped up in a flag. It tells us our neighbors, our loved ones are bad. So they aim for the kill and they unload their mag. The dark isn't leaving it's standing its ground to see we don't speak of the infant it drowned of children made livestock and evidence found of more than one man who bought flesh for a pound. The darkness was let in, to grow and get fat and claim persecution from those who fight back. The dark isn't coming, it's always been here to threaten not all just the brown, Jew, and queer. The thunders of muzzles silent on our ears now call for my tone so it's something to fear. It will want to sleep soon, slip back through the cracks. The darkness has been here. It wears a red hat.
A full shot portrait of a mysterious figure dressed as a plague doctor, wearing a tall red pope hat with a golden upward-pointing cross, a golden beak-like mask and a white flowing hood over a feathered red cape with a large ruby pendant over a white gown, holding a wooden cross with an intertwined ring in its left hand, and wearing a beaded cross bracelet with a red tasseled cross on its right wrist. The background depicts a narrow cobblestone street with old buildings on either side, and in the distance, a church steeple peaks over the rooftops under a bright, cloudy sky.
