....I have always admired the beautiful colors of tulips and wanted to grow them in my home.
I followed instructions I had found online and planted the bulbs in a sunny window and eagerly waited for them to sprout.
Days turned into weeks, and I noticed that the bulbs I gave to my daughter were all blooming nicely and my tulip bulbs were not growing as well.
My bulbs were struggling and not thriving in the bright sunlight.
Frustrated, I researched some more and discovered that tulips are notoriously difficult to grow indoors, especially in a sunny window. They require a specific amount of light and temperature to thrive, and too much sunlight can actually be detrimental to their growth.
I made some changes, moved the tulip bulbs to a location with more shade and eventually I got a few blooms. But most of the tulips were too stressed to bloom and the leaves had turned a light green and brown, so I cut them all back, put them in the garage and will try planting them in the outdoor garden this fall.
