I think of all the illusionists, the ones who work with fire fascinate me the most.

The American philosopher Susanne Langer (1895-1985) said, "Fire is a natural symbol of life and passion, though it is the one element in which nothing can actually live." Langer worked in aesthetics and famously saw art as the product of the human mind's most important, distinctive and remarkable ability, i.e., the ability to symbolise. She believed all animal life is dominated by feeling, but human feeling is mediated by conceptions, symbols, and language.
