A winter elegy captures Ofelia's heart in power games.
Pawned to circumstance she plots her escape.
Ophelios comes to see her a renewed way.
Eterna primavera and perpetua giovinezza,
Are not the same.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Holder's clutch Denmark's winter, a cruelty.
For you dear I will not refuse to see your flowers.
Arcadian's living a cold reality is to know the bitter.
Tragically narrow vision, they wish to strip magic bare.
I offer my garland of pansies and roses.
I can't promise the world will change only Ophelios.
Idyllic words will not shift hearts, Arcadia's bloom lost.
To only offer that bloom to the world is to know madness.
For they turn cold metal into a token for beautiful art.
They will say they're lost in a world that's not ours.
Is that true? Are narrow minds not lost too?
They say Peter and Wendy are lost in thoughts they choose.
Control is their move, power games they'll loose, time's fool.
For wisdom is a gift you must reach out for to know,
Arcadia is evermore, just as the bite of Denmark's cold.
Tenderness in action is what we must hold.
When they cast their clam upon you, your work, your soul.
A soul that only lives inside their mind is caught by themselves.
A soul that takes actions to leave their love for glory is no different.
Holding what makes a child great through the test of life,
Takes a bravery few understand.
For I don't wish to cling to my youth.
Nor do I wish to loose the tenderness I nurtured all this time.
I guard it with prowess, a warrior soul lives inside.
Willow knows resilience we must bend with weight of love.
Poetics teaches me I know holding shelter for her,
Is the same as allowing myself to know a calm harbor.
The sage inside reminds me balance knows longevity.
Our fates intertwined, this branch will not break.
I don't wish to live in Arcadia,
Nor exemplify a Shakespearean tragedy.
Wisdom is the lock, actions hold the key.
Force will never grow a fond heart.
Freedom sown organically,
Let us tend our garden in trust,
and with luck the roots of our love grow deep.
For when the bough is tested we shall bend.
In the end flexibility is just as important as strength.
Forever, Ever, and Evermore,
Aaron Baker
Post Script: Facing pain takes honesty. Facing truth often takes bravery. Let them call renewal crazy. Knowing what is scared, knowing what is sacred. Let them say we are lost, as if eternal winter isn't as absurd as eternal spring. Let us have walk, a journey in-between.
